Montiel is from a small town in Hidalgo, Mexico, where he was raised surrounded by the tantalizing aromas and flavors of traditional Mexican cuisine. Montiel has worked at notable restaurants in New York City alongside some of the best Chefs in the industry including: Sara Jenkins, Jody Williams, Josh Capon, Anne Burrell and Amanda Freitag.
In 2018, Montiel joined Cantina Rooftop as the Executive Chef where he combined his authentic Mexican recipes with his adopted Mediterranean and Italian techniques to create a contemporary and exciting new menu at Cantina Rooftop. This restaurant has become a destination for food lovers from around the world who want to try his unique cuisine creations. Montiel’s success in the restaurant industry has not gone unnoticed.
